a month agoAs a complete novice, I visited the Media Markt in the Cittipark shopping center on December 1st, 2025, because I wanted comprehensive advice on playing a flight simulator with a VR headset on a console. The young people (I'm 65 years old) strongly recommended a PlayStation 5 in combination with the corresponding VR2 headset. I was told that Microsoft Flight Simulator for the PS5 would be released on December 9th, 2025, so I happily ordered MSFS 2024. They also reserved the console and the VR headset for me, so I could pick everything up on December 13th, 2025. However, my subsequent research revealed that MSFS isn't actually playable via VR2, as the necessary release wouldn't be available until sometime in 2026. Did I get this information at Media Markt? No! I therefore cancelled the VR2 for €349 without replacement, but now needed a monitor, which I selected on a subsequent visit. In the meantime, I received an email stating that MSFS was neither available for delivery nor pickup, even though one had been reserved for me. Upon revisiting this cathedral of expertise, I complained about how I had been treated. A salesperson claimed to have seen a copy in the warehouse and, despite the email stating otherwise, returned with a disc of MSFS. Full of enthusiasm, I then also bought a more expensive PS5 Pro, a good monitor, and looked forward to setting everything up, only to discover that the PS5 Pro doesn't even have a disc drive, a fact that the experts of this dark establishment had conveniently omitted in their apparent ignorance. So, I had the incredible pleasure of visiting this "high-tech temple" yet again to complete my setup. Honestly? Given this poor performance, I can understand everyone who prefers to buy items from well-known online retailers, especially since their AI now provides more substantive advice than the temporary staff at Media Markt ever could – I trust their advice about as much as I trust sushi from a gas station! I'll be giving that store a wide berth in the future, and I can only recommend that everyone do the same, except for those who naturally suffer from low blood pressure!

a month agoThis store is only good if you want to physically examine the product. Don't rely on their advice. I wanted to buy a smartphone through a trade-in program and researched all the information beforehand on the MediaMarkt website. I went to the store, looked at the phone in person, and after finding a sales assistant, asked about the current cost of an additional payment for this smartphone. He looked at the price and gave me the wrong price twice. I was disappointed with the service and have decided not to buy a phone from this store.
